Happy New Year

Let me be the first to wish everyone a happy new year.  I'm lounging on my couch watching Jimmy Stewart in Shop Around the Corner.  (I took a nap for most of the afternoon, so now I'm rather wide awake.  Nice, huh?)  I was going to have my own personal little count down, but I became so engrossed in my movie that I forgot to look at the clock.  And then all of a sudden I was startled by the melee that has broken out 25 flights below me in the streets.  Perks of living in Spa Ha, I guess :)  I looked at the clock and it said 12:01.  I totally missed it.

In the grand spectrum of happy new years, this one is most definitely my quietest, but I'm rather enjoying myself.  I balanced my check book (always a treat), I watched a bunch of country music videos, I sent some relief society emails, and now I'm lounging.  If I can just get rid of my stuffy nose.

Love you all!

Time to Read

So I have been thinking about our Bookclub and, having just been inspired by The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, I would like to propose some possible guidelines.  In the PPP Society, they meet bi-monthly (which is not possible in our situation). It is their meeting format that I like.  Instead of everyone reading the some book, they present the book they have read and try to sell it to each other--trying to get others to want to read it.

I am all for reading the same books, but I think this is what I am looking for.  I am always searching for good books and this is a way for us to give our recommendations.  Now that I think about it, this is a bit like a book report...no...book review sounds more adult.

What do you think?
Keep me posted.

Did you hear?

I'm blowing my nose AGAIN. But it's okay because Libby told me I was a snot because after I read Natalie's post about Rex almost missing his interview (which, by the way, is all meant to be if you ask me, but then who's asking...) I made a very little snide comment about "didn't I say it was good to go to things with a little time to spare?" which was a joke because Libby is still bugged that she got to the gate at the airport with time to spare (okay, it was an hour and nineteen minutes...) But, like I always say, better safe than sorry. Okay I know I'm a little OC. But don't worry everyone - it will only get worse! I love you all and miss you and it was the best Christmas ever.

Did you hear?

Rex missed his Tulane interview. He thought it was at noon, but it was really at 11:00. Whoops. Luckily, they called him and he still got interviewed. But, ????

Introducing the Nielson Family Blog

Getting an early jump on our 2009 New Year's Resolution to start a family blog to stay connected, we are now official. I think that by 10pm tonight all family members will have returned home safely and in 10 days there will be no traces of the "family" cold or lack of sleep (unless you happen to have a child under the age of 10 months...)
