A Beautiful Day in Utah!!!!

Every year it happens and every year I fall for it.  The snow melts, the sun comes out, we have a couple days were we can wear short skirts and sandals.  I'm in heaven. We don't even have inversion!  Mom would be proud of the number of open windows Aberdeen is sporting at the moment.  On entering the house this morning, one of my moms asked what smelled so nice in the house, was I burning a candle, room spray...No. Either she was smelling the salmon I cooked for dinner last night (which smelled lovely, but I wouldn't place it in the candle/room spray category) or she was simply smelling good ol' fresh air.  Do we put much bank in the whole seasonal depression thing because I am so much happier with a little blue sky and flowers on the counter?I'm even getting the itch to do a little spring cleaning--which I am going to make Grandma help me with. Shhhhh...she doesn't know....I'm sure when it snows later this week we will really see my bi-polar tendencies in full force.  Crazy Utah.  Until then, I'm going to go for a walk.

I love you lots and lots.  I am making some fun new recipes that I'll post in the next few days (Fettucine Carbonara and Smokey Slow Cooker Stew), but I wanted to drop a line and tell you I love you and I miss you.

Valentine recap

Hola mia familia,

I'm lounging on my couch convalescing.  This wretched cold.  It needs to stop!!  Both in my nose and throat and lungs . . . and outside.  Bleh.

But now I have the Oscars.  Red carpet walk starts in ETA: 2 minutes.

I downloaded a couple of pictures for you all to enjoy :)  Happy post valentines.

Mr. Groundhog

I've got a bone to pick with that dumb groundhog.  Does it really have to keep snowing?

February Snow....

I don't know why I assume that once February hits and there is a little blue sky and a slight thaw that spring is on its way and it is not going to snow anymore. That is NOT the Utah way and if I could come to grips with that I think I would have much less disappointment in my life.

Yesterday was a lovely day.  I got up and went to church at the Mt. Mahogany Ward.  Church was nice (although I am now quite sure that I will be staying in my Salt Lake Ward). I loved the 9am time. The plan is to go there whenever I don't have Spoken Word.  All other times I'll just stay in Salt Lake after the broadcast.  I came home and made delicious soup for dinner and apple cake for dessert.  I had invited Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Suzan over for dinner at 3. Grandma and Grandpa got there at 2:20 (nothing was ready) so they got to help.  It was very nice.  I am loving living in the house, but I'm not going to lie that it is nice to have people over so it is not quite so empty.

My rehearsal in the afternoon was canceled due to some hand pain so I was able to work on my applique, watch a little tv, just relax which really has not happened on a Sunday for a long time.  I watched the BBC's new Sense and Sensibility which Mom, Em and I had seen the first segment of last week and I really liked it. At first it was not my favorite, but now I really like it.  I think I am going to have to read the book again because I want to know which film is more accurate.

To top off the whole day, I got a text from Matt in the morning and then we texted back and forth most of the afternoon/evening.  Always fun. Especially when the boy situation looks a little bleak.  I did have a date on Sat, but I believe that I can't go out with him any more because I am just not feeling it. I was going to decline this time, but I wanted to make sure that it was a no and not whatever crazy pills my dermatologist has me on talking.  Still a no. He is very doting so I think it might be one of those awkward conversations that we love so much.  I haven't had to use the 3x5 card for a long time, but maybe I'll have to pull it out.  To think I won't have to have the conversation is just wishful thinking. It's coming; he asked what I was doing on Valentine's...I'm busy. This is not the end.

Now it is time to start the day. On the agenda: Study a little, exercise, post office, bank, teach, a little cleaning--mostly vacuuming.

Love you lots
